Swedzinski returns to Capitol for new session

ST. PAUL – Minnesota’s 2026 legislative session began Tuesday and Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, said it’s good to be back at the Capitol working for District 15A residents with crucial issues on tap for the coming months.

“It is nice getting back to work in St. Paul so we can build on the successes we had last year by bringing more balance to the Capitol,” Swedzinski said. “Namely, we put an end to the excessive spending, unnecessary tax increases and extreme policies of the last two years. I’m also looking forward to taking real steps toward cracking down on the fraud epidemic that’s costing taxpayers billions upon billions of dollars. This does not need to be a partisan issue, which is a good thing because the House is still tied and Democrats have a razor-thin majority in the Senate.”

Swedzinski said House Republicans recently shared a list of overarching priorities for the 2026 legislative session. They include:
-Stop the Fraud
-Make Minnesota Affordable
-Make Minnesota Safe
-Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
-Make Minnesota Competitive
-Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
