Representative Davids Honored as a 2026 Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities

ST. PAUL – The League of Minnesota Cities has recognized 23 state lawmakers, including Rep. Greg Davids (R-Preston), as 2026 Legislators of Distinction. The annual award, presented by the League’s Board of Directors, honors legislators whose leadership, collaboration, and support for cities helped advance the interests of Minnesota communities during the 2026 legislative session.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition,” Davids said. “During my legislative career, I have always tried to find ways to help city and county governments address problems they’re facing, and I’m pleased the League has supported my approach.”

Throughout the 2026 legislative session, Rep. Davids worked closely with League staff on issues related to property taxes, local government aid, and local sales taxes. As co-chair of the House Taxes Committee, Davids played a key role in advancing local sales tax proposals that were important to Minnesota cities. The League noted it appreciated his accessibility, willingness to consult with city leaders, and commitment to considering the impacts of tax policy on local governments.

According to the League, honorees have demonstrated a strong commitment to partnering with cities to address shared challenges and strengthen communities across Minnesota. To be eligible for the award, legislators must demonstrate one or more of the following:

• Be generally accessible to League representatives

• Seek input on issues important to cities

• Listen to League concerns and thoughtfully consider information provided by the League

• Sponsor and/or support League initiatives

• Advocate for the interests of Minnesota cities

• Demonstrate the value of strong partnerships between the state and cities
