Rep. Jim Nash Statement on Minnesota Supreme Court Ruling in Powerlifting Case 

Representative Jim Nash, R-Waconia, issued the following statement reacting to this morning’s Minnesota Supreme Court decision: 

“This decision is incredibly disappointing and takes women’s sports in Minnesota a step backward. Every female athlete deserves a fair chance to compete and succeed, but this ruling threatens that fairness. Allowing biological males to compete against women erases years of hard-fought progress and discourages young women striving to reach their goals.

I will continue to stand up for female athletes and the integrity of girls’ sports. It’s about fairness, safety, and making sure every girl has a real opportunity to succeed.”

Both House File 12 and House File 1233 would have clarified the issue at hand; however, these bills were voted down on party line votes. Both bills remain “on the table” and ready for action when the House reconvenes on February 17, 2026.
