ST. PAUL – Did you know thousands of people each year have money being held for them by Minnesota’s government?

State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) is urging residents to determine if they are on the list.

“There’s no sense in letting state government hang on to money that rightfully belongs to you,” Davids said. “In less than two minutes you can determine if you have unclaimed property, and I strongly encourage all residents to visit the state’s website and determine if they can make a claim.”

The Unclaimed Property Division within the Department of Commerce reunites owners with their lost or misplaced property, including money in bank accounts, wages, insurance benefits, stock dividends and other funds that remain unclaimed for three years or more.
