Rep. Bryan Lawrence Shares Priorities as 2026 Legislative Session Begins

St. Paul — Representative Bryan Lawrence (R–Princeton) today outlined his priorities as the Minnesota Legislature convenes for the 2026 legislative session, focusing on fiscal responsibility, government accountability, and supporting Minnesota families, farmers, and local communities.

“As we begin the new session, my focus remains simple: listen to Minnesotans, protect taxpayer dollars, and work toward practical solutions that strengthen our communities,” said Rep. Lawrence. “Families, small businesses, and farmers continue to face rising costs and uncertainty, and it’s our responsibility to keep Minnesota on a more sustainable and accountable path.”

Lawrence noted that the House will again operate under a tied membership, which can present challenges but also creates opportunities for cooperation and thoughtful policymaking.

“A tied House means we will need to work together and stay focused on real solutions rather than partisan politics,” Lawrence said. “Last session showed that even during difficult circumstances, we can find common ground when we keep the focus on delivering results for Minnesotans.”

Rep. Lawrence said this year’s work will emphasize restoring affordability, improving transparency in government, and ensuring state policies reflect the needs of local communities rather than one-size-fits-all mandates from St. Paul.

Key priorities for the session include:

• Strengthening oversight and accountability to prevent fraud and protect taxpayer resources
• Supporting policies that make Minnesota more affordable for working families and small businesses
• Promoting a competitive economic environment that supports agriculture, local industry, and job growth
• Raising standards while reducing unnecessary mandates that create burdens for schools, businesses, and local governments

Rep. Lawrence will continue serving on the Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee, Education Finance Committee, and Education Policy Committee, where he plans to advocate for Minnesota’s farmers, support strong local schools, promote responsible budgeting, and strengthen Minnesota’s workforce for future generations.
