Rep. Ben Davis: Minnesota Needs Action in 2026 – End Fraud, Rein in Bureaucracy, Ease Tax Burden

St. Paul – The 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session convenes today, and Rep. Ben Davis (R-Mission Township) views it as a critical opportunity to refocus state government on accountability and the priorities of everyday Minnesotans.
“As we start this session, the push for common-sense reforms is paramount to put Minnesota back on a sustainable path,” said Rep. Davis. “That includes strengthening oversight across government, addressing the executive branch’s bloated bureaucracy riddled with fraud, ensuring judges respect jury verdicts, and curbing the use of massive omnibus bills that enable billions in waste. Property taxes continue to burden families, and it’s time to deliver real solutions that reflect what Minnesotans actually want.”
Rep. Davis will continue serving as Co-Vice Chair of the State Government Finance and Policy Committee. He will also sit on the Veterans and Military Affairs Division and the Elections Finance and Government Operations Committee. These roles position him to promote greater transparency, support veterans and military families, and improve state government operations for all Minnesotans.
“Lawmakers must hold the governor, attorney general, and secretary of state accountable to rebuild trust among law-abiding citizens who deserve integrity in our state,” Davis added. “Minnesota has gained national attention for rampant fraud, yet too few face consequences. We cannot wait until November. We need to act now through strong legislative oversight of these constitutional offices.”
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and share their input with Rep. Davis’s office throughout the session. More details are available on the Minnesota House website.
