Rep. Backer Gaveled in for 2026 Legislative Session

Saint Paul – Representative Jeff Backer (R- Browns Valley) officially gaveled in to convene the 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session today. He remains chair of the Health Committee and also is a member of the Human Services committee.  

“I am excited to be back in St. Paul representing our district, and making sure your voices are heard,” said Rep. Backer. “I am focused on rural health and making sure you get the care you deserve. My commitment is to strengthen our rural hospitals, protect independent pharmacies, expand access to mental health services, and ensure seniors, families, and farmers can receive affordable quality care close to home.” 

“I am also focused on fighting fraud and hope to work in a bipartisan manor to hold the fraudsters accountable and provide more oversight within our government agencies. Making Minnesota affordable again will be my top priority this session, as we need to make sure Minnesotans get to keep their hard-earned tax dollars and don’t lose anymore to fraud.”
