Rep. Andrew Myers Outlines Priorities as 2026 Legislative Session Begins

St. Paul – Representative Andrew Myers (R-Tonka Bay) marked the opening of the 2026 legislative session by reaffirming his commitment to delivering results through cooperation, practical solutions, and strong constituent-focused leadership.
“My focus remains on delivering real results for my constituents and for the state of Minnesota,” said Rep. Myers. “While a tied legislature can present challenges, last session showed that cooperation is both possible and, at times, beneficial in passing balanced legislation that serves all Minnesotans.”
Reflecting on the previous session’s 67-67 tie, Myers highlighted his record of bipartisan collaboration.
“Just like in the previous session, when we faced a tie, I worked across the aisle to pass almost a dozen bipartisan bills,” Myers said. “My focus then and now is on public service rather than finger-pointing.”
Rep. Myers said his priorities this session include advancing clean water solutions, raising academic standards while reducing unnecessary mandates on schools, expanding access to mental health support, fighting food insecurity across Minnesota, strengthening oversight to combat fraud in state government, improving affordability through property tax relief and reducing fees such as car tabs, increasing access to affordable health care, and supporting policies that help build safer communities.
