Niska Statement on Recent Fraud Stories

ST. PAUL – House GOP Floor Leader Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, issued the following statement today after a string of troubling fraud-related stories reported by local media in the last 36 hours, including revelations that a Liberian government official was operating at least 24 group homes in Minnesota, sex trafficking victims were used as fake employees to scam taxpayers, incomplete applications were approved for Minnesota Promise grants, and a Feeding Our Future defendant is facing more jail time for witness tampering:

“If there was any doubt that Minnesota has become the fraud capital of America under Tim Walz and Democrats, the headlines from just the last 36 hours should put it to rest,” said Niska. “The scandals are coming so fast it’s becoming difficult to keep up, and each new revelation seems more outrageous than the last. Minnesota desperately needs a culture change in state government, and that starts at the top. Tim Walz has five short months left in office, and there’s still time for him to finally step up, take responsibility, and do something about the fraud that has flourished on his watch. I won’t be holding my breath.”
