Niska returns to Capitol for new session

ST. PAUL – Minnesota’s 2026 legislative session began Tuesday and House Floor Leader Rep. Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, said it’s good to be back at the Capitol working for District 31A residents with important decisions in store the next three months.
| “I look forward to continuing our efforts to help Minnesota recover from the consequences of the extreme policies enacted under the former Democrat trifecta,” Niska said. “Last year, House Republicans took important steps toward restoring balance at the Capitol, including delivering the largest reduction in government spending in state history. Much work remains as we face crises related to immigration, health care, energy and general affordability stemming from failed Democrat policies. In addition, new Democrat mandates are hitting the Anoka-Hennepin district particularly hard and nearly resulted in a strike.” Niska said House Republicans recently shared a list of overarching priorities for the 2026 legislative session. They include: -Stop the Fraud -Make Minnesota Affordable -Make Minnesota Safe -Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates -Make Minnesota Competitive -Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans Niska said he welcomes correspondence throughout the session and encourages District 31A residents to call (651) 296-2439 or email rep.harry.niska@house.mn.gov to get in touch. |
