Nash statement on Democrat refusal to advance massively bipartisan fraud prevention bill

ST. PAUL – Rep. Jim Nash, House State Government Finance Committee Chair, released the following statement after House Democrats on the committee denied a vote on the broadly bipartisan Office of the Inspector General bill, and attempted to silence the Chair of the committee when he raised concerns.
“Today, Democrats proved they’d rather play politics with fraud than stop it. First, they tried to make the near-unanimous Senate bill more expensive and less independent. Then, when their boondoggle of an amendment failed, they refused to move the broadly bipartisan bill – or even discuss it. They did it all without working with any Republicans on the tied committee, including those who have been working on this bill in both bodies for the last year. The bottom line is that Democrats would rather admire the problem, and keep funding it, than stop it.”
