MN House of Reps Passes OIG Bill

Saint Paul, MN – Today the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) bill off the house floor. This bill will establish an independent OIG and give the OIG law enforcement capacity.

Representative Jim Nash (R-Waconia) released the following statement.

“For far too long, Minnesotans have watched fraud and government waste spiral out of control while accountability was ignored. Creating an independent Office of Inspector General with real law enforcement authority is a major step toward restoring trust in state government and protecting taxpayer dollars. This legislation sends a clear message that fraud will no longer be tolerated in Minnesota. I’m proud to have shepherded it through my committee after the DFL stalled it over and over again. I’m glad to have supported this effort and proud that House Republicans fought to make accountability a top priority for the people of our state.”
