Joint Statement on Walz Declining to Run for Third Term

ST. PAUL – State Senator Steve Green (R-Fosston) and Representatives Bidal Duran (R-Bemidji), Matt Bliss (R-Pennington) released the following statement reacting to news that Governor Walz will no longer seek a third term.

In a joint statement, the legislators said:

“The fraud will not stop with just him. We will need lots of oversight and work to correct all the damage left in his wake. Fixing the fraud will take a full housecleaning, not a reshuffle of leadership in a system that has already lost billions. While a replacement candidate has not yet been named, Minnesotans should understand that any DFL nominee will bring the same baggage and the same failed record as Governor Walz. Giving the same party another chance to lead sends a dangerous message: that large-scale fraud and mismanagement can be excused if leaders simply say they’ve fixed it. Minnesotans and their families deserve a government they can trust and cannot afford to lose anymore to fraud.”
