House votes to repeal Housing Stabilization Services program

ST. PAUL – Following the passage of HF 3379, removing the fraud-riddled Housing Stabilization Services program from statute, Speaker Lisa Demuth and Leader Harry Niska released the following statement.
“The Housing Stabilization Services program bilked hundreds of millions of dollars from Minnesotans in a fraud scheme on par with Feeding Our Future. With this program, Minnesotans were left footing the bill for failed oversight and systemic mismanagement by Minnesota Democrats. As we’ve seen with Feeding Our Future and now with HSS, Governor Walz and Minnesota Democrats have repeatedly failed to protect public dollars, allowing fraudsters to exploit well-intentioned safety net programs. Any program we pass going forward must have robust fraud prevention measures built in to stop fraudsters and protect Minnesotans.”
