Anderson: Stevens Hospital Gains State Training Grant

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Paul Anderson announces that Stevens County Medical Center in Morris has been selected to receive a $26,400 worker training grant from the state.

State officials indicate the funding will allow SCMC to provide four employees with the opportunity to progress in their careers through the combination of on-the-job training and attaining industry-recognized credentials in the health care services field.

“As a critical-access hospital, SCMC serves a very valuable role in our area and congratulations to everyone involved in gaining this grant award,” Anderson said. “Employment-based training continues to successfully support businesses and employees throughout our state, and it is good to see local organizations capitalizing on opportunities that are available.” 

The award is through a partnership of the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry to help employers meet their workforce needs by creating earn-and-learn opportunities for their staff members. Employers collaborate with training providers to support the development and career advancement of their employees by providing them with on-the-job training and assistance in pursuing their post-secondary education.
