Rep. Harder Highlights Grants to Help Livestock Producers Prevent Wolf Attacks

St. Paul — Representative Bobbie Harder (R-Henderson Twp) is encouraging livestock producers who may qualify to apply for funding available through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Wolf-Livestock Conflict Prevention Grant Program.

The program will award $25,000 in federal funding to help producers prevent wolf attacks. Eligible expenses include guard animals and veterinary costs, fencing and other barriers, wolf-deterring lights and alarms, and calving or lambing shelters.

“I want to make sure livestock producers in our area are aware of this opportunity and have time to see if they qualify,” said Harder. “Applications are open now, and I’d encourage interested producers to take a look before the deadline.”

The grant reimburses 80% of eligible project costs, with producers responsible for the remaining 20%. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Dec. 18.
