Niska Slams Democrat Failures for Dismal MCA Results

ST. PAUL – Today, the Minnesota Department of Education released the 2026 MCA results, showing that 48.6% of students scored proficient in reading, 44.9% were proficient in math, and only 25.2% scored proficient in science, following a downward trend in Minnesota test scores. House GOP Floor Leader Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, released the following statement regarding the results:
“Today’s dismal MCA results are proof that the Democrat education agenda has failed our students. After dozens of new mandates focused on micromanaging our schools instead of empowering them to serve their students, all Democrats have are excuses and deflections – no real solutions. House Republicans are prioritizing the fundamentals of learning in reading and math, and restoring local control so our schools can focus on student achievement.”
For reference, 2019’s version of the MCA showed test scores at 58.3% in reading, 53.9% in math, and 50.7% in science.
