Rep. Duran on Downtown Minneapolis Shooting

St. Paul –– Representative Bidal Duran (R-Bemidji), who serves on the House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, released the following statement in response to the shooting in downtown Minneapolis:

“What happened in Minneapolis is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the victims, the families who are grieving and everyone now carrying the consequences of this violence.

“No community should have to grow accustomed to scenes like what we saw in Minneapolis. This kind of violence is unacceptable.

“I’m also thinking about the officers who were harmed while responding and the people closest to them. Having served in law enforcement myself, I know how heavily moments like this weigh on families, friends and fellow officers.

“I’m grateful for the coordination we saw between law enforcement agencies, first responders and medical teams. In a situation this serious, that kind of response more than admirable.

“My prayers are with everyone affected and with the Minneapolis community in the days ahead.”
