Co-Chair Franson Highlights District 12B Bonding Projects

Saint Paul, MN – Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria), Co-Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee, announced several major infrastructure and community investment projects for western Minnesota included in the final bipartisan bonding bill passed by the Legislature this session.

The projects included in the bill for the area include:

• $1.5 million for a new interchange at Interstate 94 and Douglas County State-Aid Highway 17 in Alexandria

• $5 million for improvements to the “elevator road” in Glenwood

• $5 million for improvements to the Alexandria Lake Area Sanitary District regional water reclamation facility

• $4 million for facility improvements at Alexandria Technical and Community College

• $500,000 for West Central Dental Resources to support expansion of its critical access dental clinic

“These are important investments that will support economic development, strengthen local infrastructure, and improve quality of life across western Minnesota,” Franson said. “From transportation improvements and wastewater infrastructure to higher education and rural health care access, these projects address real needs in our communities and will have a lasting impact for years to come.”

As Co-Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee, Franson took charge to negotiate and advance the bipartisan bonding package through the legislative process. The final bill focused heavily on statewide infrastructure priorities, including clean water systems, transportation safety, asset preservation, and community development projects.

“This session, we worked hard to keep the bonding bill focused on the basics Minnesotans depend on every day,” Franson said. “That means investing in clean water systems, safer roads and bridges, and critical infrastructure projects across our state. I am proud of the work of the committee to make a difference for Minnesotans through bonding.”
