Democrats Vote Against Protecting Girls’ Sports

ST. PAUL – House Democrats voted three times against protecting Title IX and girls’ sports in Minnesota. Speaker Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, responded:

“For decades, girls fought for a level playing field in sports, and that right has come under attack in Minnesota,” said Demuth. “We heard during debate today that biology is not real. Opponents would rather cry hate than acknowledge that there are measurable differences between boys and girls, even after hormone therapy. This is common sense – we need to pass this bill to restore fairness and safety for Minnesota girls.”

Leader Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, added:

“Today, Democrats chose radical gender ideology over fairness, abandoning the very protections Title IX was meant to guarantee for women and girls. Minnesotans overwhelmingly support preserving girls’ sports, but Minnesota Democrats are doubling down on an extreme, out-of-touch position that erodes more than 50 years of hard-fought progress and puts critical federal funding for our schools at serious risk.”
